Md. turbine plan A wind farm developer is shrinking a proposal to build turbines in Western Maryland, making the project small enough to be exempt from a major environmental review. Clipper Windpower Inc. officials say they now want to build 28 turbines instead of 67 along Backbone Mountain in Garrett County. That could make it the first project to be exempt from broad state review under a 2007 law meant to speed up construction of wind farm projects. Clipper is one of three companies competing to be the first to build wind turbines in Western Maryland. Gov. Martin O'Malley recently announced that the state will ban turbines in state forests, but that decision does not affect Clipper or the other companies that want to build on private land. Versteegen, out of my father's house conveniently located across from the Wisp Ski and Golf Resort in McHenry, MD - more often referred to as Deep Creek Lake. With the help from my father and a family friend, Mark Appleby of General Alarm Company, we pointed two surveillance cameras through a couple second story windows of the house. In the summer time, we pointed them out to the lake. In the wintertime, we pointed them to the Wisp Ski area's north face. When I moved out of the area, I took my web expertise with me and the cameras went off line for a couple of years. Recently, I googled "deep creek lake web cams" and discovered a few local businesses that invested in web cam technology. Having never let the ownership of my domain expire, I quickly revitalized the site to what you see today. DeepCreekCam is now a collection of three live streaming video feeds including one from Downtown Oakland, MD and two from the Honi Honi Bar on the shores of Deep Creek Lake. Adding to the scenery are more than 50 still images captured from other locations including the Wisp Ski and Golf Resort. In addition to the images, DeepCreekCam displays local news and weather information - making DeepCreekCam the one stop snap shot of Deep Creek Lake, Maryland. DeepCreekCam also offers advertising opportunities for local businesses as seen on the top and bottom of this site. Text advertising is also displayed along the site of the images. DeepCreekCam offers a great deal of information on a fast loading single web page. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to use the contact form below to let us know your thoughts.
